From the perspective of regional heterogeneity, the burden of elderly-AD in Western Europe is much heavier than other areas. Socio-demographic index (r = 0.497, P < 0.001), high alcohol use (r = 0.50, P < 0.001) and high red meat diet (r = 0.46, P < 0.001) are positively related to the incidence of elderly-AD, while low nuts and seeds intake (r = -0.50, P < 0.001), low seafood omega-3 fatty acids diet (r = -0.74, P < 0.001), low omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acids diet (r = -0.43, P < 0.001) and high sodium diet (r = -0.62, P < 0.001) are negatively related to the incidence rate of elderly-AD.CONCLUSION: The burden of elderly-AD is relatively high level in Europe with regional and gender disparities, and dietary habits are probably contributor.PMID:42433468 | PMC:PMC13352074 | DOI:10.1016/j.waojou.2026.101422
