Online ahead of print.ABSTRACTActinomycosis is a rare chronic infection caused by Actinomyces spp. affecting skin and mucosal sites, including oral, cervicofacial, respiratory, gastrointestinal, and urogenital regions. Clinical samples were received in Robertson's Cooked Meat media and cultured aerobically, anaerobically, and in CO2 incubation. Anaerobic isolates were identified using conventional and VITEK 2, and susceptibility was determined by Epsilometer strips. Actinomyces meyeri was detected in one case and Actinomyces odontolyticus in three cases; three isolates were metronidazole-resistant. Effective management requires a multidisciplinary approach, and the need to strengthen antimicrobial stewardship for anaerobic infections, too.PMID:42323130 | DOI:10.1016/j.ijmmb.2026.101173
