The provided compositions are particularly useful for applications where the subject is a livestock animal used for meat or milk production, as the anesthetic agents have no toxic effects on food byproducts. The compositions provide further advantages for applications where the subject is a human undergoing a medical procedure. Also provided are methods for using the disclosed compositions and compounds.
