1340743 Identification tags MEAT & LIVESTOCK COMMISSION 20 April 1972 [5 April 1971] 8710/71 Heading B6P [Also in Division B8] A stud and label combination for identifying meat carcases comprises a stud 4 having a head 5 and a shank 6 with a pointed end and with projections 7 shaped to resist removal from meat, and a label 8 having an aperture 9 reinforced by a collar 10 which fits closely around the stud neck. The projections 7 may be a series of ridges of part annular form having a ratchet like crosssection, or may be barbs (11) arranged in two pairs mutually at right angles and axially displaced from each other, Fig. 2 (not shown). Alternatively the end of the stud may be enlarged, Fig. 3 (not shown). The stud may be of polypropylene or plastics material.
