[Also in Division A4] A cover for the open end of a meat loaf mould comprises a pressure plate 5 which is a sliding fit in the open end of the mould 1, catch members 6 at opposite sides of the plate and having ratchet teeth 8 for releasable engagement with side flanges 3 of the mould, and leaf springs 10, 16 which extend across the plate and have one end hinged at 9, 14 to one of the catch members and the other end fixed to the plate, the springs being stressed when the catch members are engaged with the mould to press the plate on the contents of the mould. The leaf-spring 16 consists of two narrower leaves fixed to a cross-bar 15 and straddling the wider leaf 10, the end parts 19, 13 of the leaves being welded to the plate and the leaf springs exerting equal pressure on the contents when the flanges 3 are engaged by corresponding notches.
