The invention relates to a method for producing an airlaid product or a nonwoven material from a starting material, in particular a cellulose material in the form of packaging, such as a cellulose bale. In said method, the starting material is comminuted into a comminuted material in at least one comminution line by means of at least one comminuting device, and the comminuted material is supplied to at least one material buffer. The comminuted material is removed from the at least one material buffer in a metered manner by means of at least one metering device and is supplied to at least one processing line with at least one defiberizing system in which the comminuted material is defiberized into a defiberized material. The defiberized material is supplied to a production machine and is processed into an airlaid product or a nonwoven product, wherein the at least one metering device is controlled such that a continuous mass flow of defiberized material is supplied to the production machine. The invention additionally relates to a device for carrying out the method for producing an airlaid product or a nonwoven product.
