The resistance-to-draw modifying element comprises a first component, a second component and at least one airflow channel. The first component and the second component cooperate to form the airflow channel. At least one of the first component and the second component are configured to be moveable with respect to the other of the first component and second component between at least a first position and a second position. The inner surface area of the airflow channel in the first position is smaller than the inner surface area of the airflow channel in the second position. The cross-sectional area of the airflow channel in the first position and the second position remains unchanged. The invention further relates to a method for controlling the resistance-to-draw of an aerosol-generating device.
