The invention discloses a genetically engineered bacterium for efficiently producing retinoic acid as well as a construction method and application of the genetically engineered bacterium, and belongs to the field of genetic engineering. According to the invention, a yeast engineering strain for producing retinaldehyde is used as a starting strain, and a gene integration technology or a mode of introducing recombinant expression plasmids is utilized, so that an aldehyde dehydrogenase coding gene from saccharomyces cerevisiae is successfully expressed in the engineering strain and participates in synthesis of retinoic acid; the retinoic acid can be efficiently produced by using safe and efficient yeast as a cell factory. The yield of retinoic acid is further improved by increasing the copy number and knocking out the mevalonic acid pathway transcriptional inhibition factor coding gene. The yield of retinoic acid synthesized by using the engineering strain constructed by the invention after shake-flask single-phase and two-phase fermentation culture is superior to that reported in the prior art, and the engineering strain has a good application prospect. The invention also provides a method for realizing extracellular secretion of retinoic acid, dodecane or olive oil is added in the fermentation process, so that the synthesized retinoic acid is secreted outside the cells.
