AP includes alginate as a reflux-neutralizing, raft-forming, stabilizing agent, including polylysine, dextrose and grapefruit seed extract preservatives. The methods are intended to provide relief or prophylaxis of acid reflux and other forms of indigestion in mammals. In some embodiments, dextrose and polylysine are combined to form a preservative for the alginate-based nutritional supplement. In other embodiments, a method for producing a reflux preventing raft is provided.
