The marker element includes a primary coil, a first anchor and a second anchor. The primary coil is disposed within the carrier. At least a portion of the first anchor and the second anchor extend outwardly from opposite sides of the carrier. The first anchor and second anchor are configured to move relative to the primary coil to engage tissue at a biopsy site.
