Fuente: WIPO "milk" This invention relates to a method of producing a substantially dry powder containing large numbers of viable bacteria which method comprises the steps of spraying a concentrated solution or suspension of viable bacteria onto a powdery material which material has not more than a limited moisture content, and drying the sprayed powder material at a low temperature and slow rate. A preferred method of the present invention provides a 'low-heat' milk-based powder suitable for use in a milk-replacer for a mammal, said powder containing a lactoperoxidase, thiocyanate and large numbers of viable bacterial capable of producing hydrogen peroxide in the stomach of a said mammal in use of said powder.
