1348902 Demineralizing food MORINAGA NYUGYO K K 29 July 1971 [1 Aug 1970] 35737/71 Heading C7B A method of demineralizing food i.e. milk comprises supplying raw material into a holding tank of the first unit of a series of demineralizing units, each unit comprising a holding tank and an electrodialysis cell employing an ion exchange membrane, continually pumping liquid in the holding tank of the first unit through the dialysis cell back to the holding tank, successively overflowing the liquid in the first unit holding tank to the holding tanks of the other units to effect further dialysis and finally receiving into a product holding tank demineralized liquid from the last unit. The mineral concentration may be determined in each unit by measuring the electrical conductively of the liquid. The mineral concentration of the product is regulated by controlling the supply of raw material into the first unit. Aqueous sodium chloride may be used in the electrodialysis cells.
