Shock wave is a type of propagating disturbance. When a wave moves faster than the local speed of!sound in a fluid, it is a shock wave, it is characterized by a discontinuous change in pressure,; temperature and density of the medium. Shock wave energy has found multidisciplinary applications in the field of constructive as well as destructive ;engineering .In this present work, the shock waves produced from the Reddy"s shock tube are passed on the tomato seeds. The number of shocks passed is tabulated for study purpose. The tomato seeds are treated for 20, 40, 60 and 80 shock counts The height of the shock wave treated tomato seed plant is about 4 feet where as normal tomato plant height was only 2.75 feet-iand it attained flower growth in 48 days which normal tomato plants took 60-65 days for producing flowers. From this work, another fact was driven, that a natural seed of a tomato germinate only in warm condition of around 21 to 23 degree Celsius, whereas shock wave passed seeds withstand nearly cold condition of 19 degree Celsius. The Shockwave treated seeds are growing higher and wider than the normal tomato plant without fertilizers. The tomato fruit yield is comparatively good. The Shockwave treated plant grow well when compared with the normal tomato plant. The impact of shock wave on tomato seed, also stimulates the nutrients enormously".; By testing and comparing the shock wave passed tomato fruit nutrients with the tomato that ;is grown using fertilizers it is found that vitamins and Lycopene ingredient values get increases; The Lycopene of tomato fruit helps to cure the cancer. From these results of seeds (FE-SEM;test) and fruits nutrients and its growth and yield, we came to a conclusion that the shock wave passed seed is more effective in all the above parameters mentioned and shock wave treatment.of tomato seeds is a unique method to agriculture.
