TOMATO PLANTS RESISTANT TO RESISTANCE-BREAKING TSWV STRAINS AND CORRESPONDING RESISTANCE GENES

Fuente: WIPO "tomato"
The invention relates to a Sw-5b protein, which is a variant of the wild type protein, conferring recognition of the NSm protein of the Tomato Spotted Wilt virus (TSWV), especially to resistance-breaking TSWV, and wherein said variant comprises a variation at one or more of the following positions: 23, 26, 28, 29, 30, 75, 82, 83, 90, 134, 135, 136, 138, 139, 140, 143, 147, 148, 151, 203, 209, 214, 325, 351, 448, 522, 622 and 759 with respect to the sw-5b protein. The present invention also relates to genetic sequences encoding such a variant protein, preferably to a mutated sw-5b gene, and to plants, especially Solanum lycopersicum plants comprising in their genome said mutated gene conferring resistance to RB-TSWV. The invention is also directed to parts of these plants, as well as progeny, and to the use of these sequences for providing TSWV resistance.
