Some embodiments may include: measuring an upwelling irradiance signal from the transgenic plant at a satellite, wherein the upwelling irradiance signal comprises a reflectance signal and the SIF signal; generating a hyperspectral image based on the measured upwelling irradiance signal by a hyperspectral imager of the satellite; generating a predicted reflectance signal by a reflectance model based on the generated hyperspectral image; and determining the SIF signal based on the hyperspectral image and the predicted reflectance signal.
