This disclosure furthermore provides a cell that is genetically engineered to express or to overexpress a saccharide importer that has uptake activity for lacto-N-triose (LN3, GlcNAc-beta1,3-Gal-beta1,4-Glc). The invention also provides the use of the cells in a cultivation or incubation. The invention also describes methods for the production of one or more bioproduct(s) using any one of the saccharide importers as well as the purification of the bioproduct(s). The invention furthermore relates to saccharide importers having uptake activity for LN3 and the use of any one of the saccharide importers for the production of one or more bioproduct(s).
