This includes methods for editing a genomic target in a meristem of a plant that expresses Cas editing reagents by delivering to a plant root a guide RNA for the Cas nuclease, as well as methods for using a rootstock to edit a scion in a grafted plant. Various methods of delivering the guide RNA, inducing haploidy in plants, and doubling chromosomes in plants are provided. Plants edited using the methods are also provided.
