The disclosed technology provides conversion of biomass or fossil-based carbon feedstock into valuable compounds as well as their fractionation and separation in a single cyclone reactor within short reaction times in aqueous medium. The subject matter also relates to methods comprising the use of such cyclone reactor in biomass processing and systems comprising said cyclone reactor. Therefore, the disclosed technology allows the valorization of a wide range of biomass or fossil-based carbon feedstock material for the efficient production of output added-value chemicals without the use of multiple setups and time-consuming processes.
