The activation of sympathetic neuronal pathways innervating the intestine induces a reduction of ILC2 in the small intestine and promotes their rapid accumulation in pancreatic tissue. In the pancreas, the ILC2 secrete IL-5 and IL-13, which act directly on pancreatic α-cells expressing IL-5Rα and IL-13Rα to increase glucagon secretion.
