Specifically, the present disclosure provides methods and compositions for using guided (e.g. RNA-guided) histone methyltransferases (e.g., H3K4me3 methyltransferases) to increase meiotic crossover rates at desired repeat-rich loci, such as centromeric and centromere-proximal loci, in plants.
