Further embodiments provide a rating system for grading said tolerance. Yet other embodiments provide for controlled environment screening of pesticides, fungicides, insecticides, and/or nematicides. Further embodiments provide for methods for correlating the tolerance to said herbicides, to those results obtained in the field to screen and eliminate susceptible phenotypes to herbicides, in the controlled environment prior to future planting. Further embodiments provide for a recommended post-emergent treatment of herbicide based on the controlled environment screening results. Further embodiments provide for methods of using the plants and their progeny derived from the methods in a breeding program. Yet further embodiments provide for a novel marker associated with increased tolerance to said herbicides.
