An edible post harvest fruits, vegetables, cut flowers or seeds preservative biofilm coating composition, relating to the field of natural biofilms, in the form of an oil in water (O/W) emulsion. The edible coating composition extends the freshness of food and slowing down the ripening and water loss of post harvest fruits, vegetables, cut flowers or seeds.
