The method uses a processor to collect training data into a database including seed data for a plurality of varieties, including first and second phenotypic traits; to train a ML model using the training data based on a plurality of selected features including the first and second phenotypic traits; to input the first and second threshold values into the trained ML model; and to generate a list of heterogeneous mixture ratios of at least first and second seed varieties ranked based on an aggregate probability that the heterogeneous mixture will achieve the functional specification for the plant-based product after processing of the first and second seed varieties in the heterogeneous mixture ratio.
