The composition for coating plant seeds include glutathione, an amino acid, and an agriculturally acceptable carrier. The glutathione may be oxidized glutathione, and the amino acid may be L-tryptophan. Coated seeds include plant seeds and, on the surface of the seeds, a composition including glutathione and an amino acid.
