In one example, the system includes a sampling module operable to remove tissue from a seed and deposit the seed from which the tissue is removed in a seed tray. The system also includes a docking station configured to hold the seed tray apart from the sampling module, and a transfer unit configured to selectively transfer the seed tray between the sampling module and the docking station. The docking station may include a cart configured to hold one or more seed trays, one or more sample plates, and/or one or more attachments for the transfer unit configured for holding the seed trays and/or the sample plates.
