The system may comprise a growth rack comprising a plurality of levels; a receptacle lift for moving a plant receptacle between the plurality of levels of the growth rack; a receptacle conveyer; a growth medium dispenser; a germplasm dispenser; a harvester; a receptacle cleaner; and a computational controller, wherein, under control of the controller, the receptacle conveyer and/or the receptacle lift can move a plant receptacle between the growth medium dispenser, the germplasm dispenser, the growth rack, the harvester, and the receptacle cleaner.
