The invention belongs to the technical field of food nutrition, and particularly relates to application of lycopene in preparation of a product for repairing intestinal barrier injury, and the intestinal barrier injury comprises intestinal epithelium mucosa injury and intestinal permeability increase. The intestinal epithelial mucous membrane damage comprises reduction of the number of intestinal epithelial cells, close connection structure defects among epithelial cells, reduction of intestinal mucus and intestinal microenvironment imbalance. In the application, lycopene is proved to improve the intestinal microenvironment by inhibiting sodium dextran sulfate induced colitis symptoms such as mouse diarrhea and hematochezia of colitis and regulating intestinal flora composition, and also can promote intestinal epithelial cell repair and intestinal mucus increase, so that the intestinal barrier function is improved. The lycopene can be used as a safe and effective dietary nutrient for treating or preventing ulcerative colitis and related complications thereof, and indirectly drives the tomato processing industry to upgrade and transform to nutrition and health.
