The invention belongs to the field of food preparation and specifically relates to a shrimp paste and a preparation method thereof. The shrimp paste is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 400-500 parts of shrimp, 80-120 parts of table salt, 5-10 parts of green onion, 5-10 parts of ginger, 5-10 parts of garlic, 3-5 parts of vegetable oil, 0-3 parts of chlorella extract, 0-5 parts of digestion promoter, 1-3 parts of traditional Chinese medicine flavoring agent, 80-120 parts of water and 8-10 parts of thickening agent; the digestion promoter is prepared from the following raw materials in parts by weight: 7 parts of clove, 3 parts of sealwort and 1 part of Chinese olive; the traditional Chinese medicine flavoring agent is prepared from the following raw materials inparts by weight: 5 parts of fresh reed rhizome, 3 parts of purple perilla and 2 parts of jasmine. The shrimp paste provided by the invention has the advantages of bright color and glossiness, palatable taste, rich nutrition, long shelf life and healthcare functions of promoting children intelligence and boosting digestion of old people.
