NEMATODE TOXINS AND METHODS OF USE

Fuente: WIPO "tomato"
The described technology pertains to the field of agricultural pest control and addresses the technical challenge of insect damage to crops caused by pest resistance to existing control methods. The disclosed approach involves a method for producing insecticidal toxin compositions derived from nematodes. Hie method includes activating nematodes using a waxworm homogenate, inducing the release of excretory/secreted proteins (ESPs), and isolating the insecticidal toxin composition. The composition, which includes proteins such as NIP-1, exhibits oral toxicity to pest insects, including Spodoptera frugiperda, and can be applied to plants as a spray. Primary-- applications include pest control in agricultural systems to reduce crop damage and improve food security. The described technology facilitates large- scale production of ESPs for use as protein insecticides.
