26,139. Lake, H. W., [Rheinstrom & Sons Co., I.]. Nov. 22. Stoning olives, cherries, &c.-A machine for stoning olives, cherries, &c. comprises a vertical rotating wheel 5 fitted with pockets 14 and hinged lids 17 for receiving the fruit, and with radial plungers 9 adapted to force the stone outwards when engaged by a projection 13 on a fixed cam 4. The hinged lids 17 are closed automatically at the upper part of the wheel by a bent rod 25 and are held closed by engaging under a shoulder 21 on the fixed cover-plate 20. The lids are forced open to allow the fruit to fall out by another portion 23 of the bent rod 25 engaging rearward extensions 24 of the lids 17. The pockets 18 in the lids 17 are of elastic material, and have a central hole to allow the stone to escape. The plungers are guided in bosses 8 in the wheel 5, and are pressed inwards by springs 11, and the operative part of each plunger comprises two segmental cutters connected by a diametral web. The lower part of the wheel may pass through a trough for cleaning purposes, and the plungers may positively discharge the fruit from the pockets by engaging a second rise on the fixed cam.
