Fuente: WIPO "hemp" The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition and health-functional food comprising a hemp sprout extract as an effective ingredient for the prevention and treatment of diabetes and, more specifically, to a pharmaceutical composition and health-functional food comprising a hemp sprout extract as an effective ingredient for prevention or treatment/improvement of diabetes through inhibition of α-glucosidase, wherein the hemp sprout is cultivated by sprouting hemp seeds. The hemp sprout extract as an effective ingredient of the pharmaceutical composition and the health-functional food for the prevention or treatment of diabetes according to the present invention, as proven through the examples of the present specification, exhibits strong anti-diabetes activity due to excellent α-glucosidase inhibitory activity, at the same time, has weak hemolytic activity against human red blood cells, has excellent thermal stability, and does not show loss of starch-degrading enzyme inhibitory activity even under an acidic condition of pH 2 and in blood plasma, so as to be expected for the prevention and treatment of diabetes. In addition, the hemp sprout extract does not contain tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) so as to be used practically and has excellent effects of being processed into various forms such as an extract, powder, pills, tablets, etc. to be prepared in the form of being able to be taken at normal times, thereby being very useful in the pharmaceutical and food industries.
