A method for synthesis of electroactive-nanoporous carbon material from a plant fibre and use thereof. The present invention relates to the synthesis of electroactive nanoporous carbon material, comprising of significant electrical double layer (EDL) charge accumulation property wherein, used as energy storage device such as supercapacitors. Herein the preparation of electroactive nanoporous carbon includes the following steps in sequence such as synthesising of nanoporous activated carbon from the hemp fibre wherein, using physical activation method at a specific range of temperature from 600° C to 900° C. Hemp is one of the most productive and useful plants that grows quickly without any great need of pesticides in most locations and climates with only moderate water and fertilizer requirements, becoming a valuable and environmentally friendly crop.
