Fuente: Ultrasounds Extraction Byproducts
Recent advancements in green extraction techniques have led to a paradigm shift in the extraction of bioactive compounds from hops, offering significant benefits in terms of environmental sustainability, efficiency, and product quality. This study comprehensively reviewed various green extraction methods, including supercritical fluid extraction, pressurized liquid extraction, and ultrasound-assisted extraction. The potential of novel green solvents such as deep eutectic solvents and ionic liquids has also been explored. Literature indicates that the combination of different techniques can produce synergistic effects, further improving the extraction efficiency. While these methods show great promise, several areas require further investigation, including process optimization, scale-up challenges, economic feasibility, and the impact on bioactivity and stability of the extracted compounds. This chapter emphasises the potential of green extraction techniques in the brewing and nutraceutical industries, proposing them as a sustainable and efficient approach to obtain valuable bioactive compounds from hops.
