Abstract
Managing waste biomass is a significant challenge that exists everywhere in the world. When this biomass material is frequently dumped into the earth and water bodies, it poses a threat to both current and future generations of humans. Any organic material that is typically found in the biosphere is referred to as biomass. The entirely different source present in nature such as waste part of cooked and uncooked food, residue of agricultural waste, waste material obtained from wood processing industry, and waste discharged from industries can be utilized to produce biomass. Numerous research papers have examined the process of turning biomass into valuable materials with the application in various sectors. Biomass-derived carbon materials are a new type of popular ecofriendly materials which researchers are now focusing on due to the feature of porosity. Moreover, biomass is regarded as one of the greatest renewable energy sources such as biofuels and bio-based materials, and these resources are midterm future as world has started to shift away from fossil fuels. Researchers now have the ability of converting a variety of biomass waste forms into commodities with additional value and the lowest possible risk. This chapter has been focused on applications of biomass for the production of valuable products such as nanomaterials, carbonaceous materials, and carbonaceous polymers.
