The method comprises the following steps: collecting a food material image through a first image collecting device, determining the food material color corresponding to the food material image according to the food material image, finding all food material samples matched with the food material image from a pre-established database, obtaining a first food material sample set, determining food material shape information, food material appearance feature information and food material size information of the food material image according to the food material image, and finding out all food material samples matched with the information from the first food material sample set so as to obtain a food material identification result. The food material samples meeting the conditions are screened through different conditions, accurate food material recognition is facilitated, the good food material recognition effect is achieved, and the recognition efficiency is improved.
