The method comprise the following steps of S1, acquiring the shelf life of the food to be stored in the refrigerator; S2, printing the shelf life of the food to be stored in the refrigerator into a bar code attached to the food package; S3, scanning the shelf life bar code on the food, and putting the food into the refrigerator; S4, obtaining the food name with the shelf life of less than 5 hours; and S5, reminding the food to be closed to the expiration date. According to the method and the system for managing the food in the refrigerator based on the shelf life of the food, the situation that the expired food is mistakenly eaten can be prevented, and the food with different shelf life can be conveniently managed.
