LIFE + project Integral Carbon results were presented at the 1st BIORESTEC 2016 International Conference organized by the ELSEVIER publishing house in Sitges (Barcelona) during the past 23-26 October 2016.

The BIORESTEC 2016 conference has brought together more than 250 participants at Sitges Hotel Melià from more than 40 countries, many of them Asian, at a conference on biotechnologies dedicated to Bioenergy, Bioproducts and Environmental Sustainability. Some of the results obtained in the LIFE+ project "Integral Carbon" have been presented in the paper entitled "Use of treated pig slurry to produce microalgae biomass in photobioreactors" by the authors: Jorge Miñón, Ana Pascual, Evan Marks, Luis Manuel Navas and Carlos Rad. In this conference, numerous works were developed with microalgae technologies for the production of biofuels, as a substrate for anaerobic digestion or for the production of high added value bioproducts, as well as evaluations of the process sustainability.

The meeting was used to make contact with other research groups such as researchers from Neiker Tecnalia (Bilbao), the University of Gerona and the University of Seville, who also work on microalgae production processes and other fermentative bioprocesses to obtain biofertilizers.
