B.4. Adaptation of industries and implementation of the industrial prototype

During Dec, 9th, researchers from the University of Valladolid, Kepler and CTAEX, supervised the facilities of COOLOSAR dairy cooperative as the Sociedad Cooperativa Agraria de Losar de la Vera, with the purpose of assessing the logistic needs for the implementation of the prototype placed at DO Vinos de Ucles wine industry.

The implementation of the prototype at its new location is foreseen to occur at the end of March 2016, in order to start managing the residues coming from the dairy industry operation from that moment on. In this manner, generating energy and a bio-fertilizer based on local algae and consequently achieving zero greenhouse gases emission.

This occasion served as well to carry out a soil mapping of the 40 ha of COOLOSAR by the entity AGRAE SOLUTIONS (www.agrae.es) in collaboration with staff from CTAEX and COOLOSAR itself. To do so, an equipment measuring the conductivity of the soil was employed. This technique offers as a result a map that classifies the quality of the soil in several segments that are later used to analyse the algae-based bio-fertilizer performance. This technique results in a better assessment of the effect of the bio-fertilizer on the crop, as it has previously done in the vineyards of the partner DO Vinos de Ucles.
