Machining process is one of the most important manufacturing processes and is used by almost every mechanical manufacturing industry. It has a great potential to apply the sustainability principles and improve the system. The global shift towards more sustainable product and process demands sustainability measurement criteria to be developed at all level of manufacturing.The experimented model is developed to measure sustainability of machining processes. The sustainable model is developed using grey relational analysis, and pocket milling process is considered for the development, as majority of industries work on it. The cost-effective sustainability index of model is calculated from machining cost, material removal rate, production time, surface roughness and tool life. The sustainable model for tools is developed from extensive experimentation on CNC milling machine for end milling tools.
