Providing at least one remaining lifetime for at least one sustainability data item of the plurality of sustainability data items; wherein the at least one remaining lifetime is determined using physics-based modeling or at least one pre-specified maintenance plan; c. Optimizing the maintenance schedule with regard to a minimal ecological footprint based on the plurality of sustainability data items and the at least one remaining lifetime; and d. Providing the optimized maintenance schedule as output. Further, the invention relates to a corresponding computer program product and technical system.
