Generating characteristics data of an agricultural field adapted for precision farming

The invention relates in one of its embodiments to a method of determining characteristics data of an agricultural field comprising aligned plant locations, the method comprising: receiving, from a user interface (410, figure 4), user inputs S310 including a succession of displacement data, wherein the succession of displacement data maps plant locations at a boundary of the agricultural field; and determining characteristics data S320 of the agricultural field based on at least the succession of displacement data included in the received user inputs S340. The aligned plant locations maybe mapped to a two-dimensional (row, line) coordinate system and where a row of plant locations may be composed of one or more row segments of contiguous plant locations. The characteristics data may comprise a plantation map of the agricultural field. The user interface may comprise a row or row plant zone button and a line or line plant zone button (figure 5a), wherein hitting on the one or both buttons causes receiving user inputs. Also disclosed is a device for generating characteristics data and a non-transitory computer-readable medium causing a device to perform the method.
