ABSTRACT:Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) are interconnected sensor nodes that communicate wirelessly to collect data about the surrounding environment. In recent decades, considerable efforts have been devoted to process automation in agriculture, Environmental Monitoring, Pollution Monitoring & Traffic Management in Emergency Situations. In these and many more such applications it is necessary to go beyond Wi-Fi based WSNs. In this work an attempt is made to design and implement a WSN that will operate in remote environment where Wi-Fi is not reachable. Each node consists of a ESP32 microcontroller, LoRa modem, GPS module and I2C interfaced-multiplexed sensors. Each node has the capacity to wirelessly intercommunicate with the rest of the nodes, sending the captured information to a central point (gateway), from which and through the web the information is stored in a server so that it can be analyzed and consulted in real time in the control centre for further monitoring and controlling of the necessary activities in such areas.
