An apparatus, methods and systems for data collection in an industrial environment are disclosed. A monitoring system can include a data collector structured to collect high data rate data, wherein the data collector is communicatively coupled to a plurality of input channels, each of the plurality of input channels connected to a corresponding one of a plurality of high data rate sources. A plurality of distributed data acquisition circuits are structured to interpret a plurality of detection values from the high data rate data collected from the plurality of input channels, each of the plurality of detection values corresponding to at least one of the plurality of input channels. A controller is configured to distribute a data processing operation of the plurality of detection values between at least two processing components of the industrial environment.
