The assembly also comprises an applicator to deliver the sensor, and comprising a housing and a cap removably coupled to the housing to seal the applicator's interior. The applicator cap also includes a collimator and a recess configured to house a desiccant in a proximal end of the cap. The assembly may also include a removable shield configured to fit in the proximal end of the cap during sterilization.
