The digitizer 100 comprises a substantially transparent touch activatable overlay 112 placed over the touchscreen 104 and a plurality of sensors 114 supported by the overlay 112 to detect input to the overlay 112. The digitizer 100 includes a data outlet 116 for transferring the detected input as overlay data 118 so the touchpad 102 can visually display the detected input on its touchscreen 104. The digitizer 100 has sufficient sensors 114 that the overlay data 118 contains more information than the touchpad data 108 would if the touchscreen 100 were contacted directly without the digitizer 100 present. The digitizer 100 can be incorporated into a case 600.
