A digital currency wallet includes a storage unit containing digital currency and a digital currency wallet mode, and a transaction unit configured to check the wallet mode before using the digital currency in a digital currency exchange. The wallet supports a first digital currency wallet mode, which is a normal mode, and a second, crisis mode. When using the digital currency in normal mode, the transaction unit creates or receives exchange data and stores it in the storage. The crisis mode is activated if crisis switching data—public in nature—are received, allowing the wallet to switch modes during a crisis situation. The public crisis switching data are published or distributed to facilitate this transition, ensuring the wallet adapts to emergencies while maintaining secure digital currency transactions.
