The invention relates to the technical field of broken cutter detection, and concretely discloses a system for CNC broken cutter prediction. The system comprises a data acquisition module used for acquiring cutter data information, a controller used for instruction control, a wireless communication module used for data transmission, a big data analysis platform used for data storage, analysis andprediction, and a mobile terminal used for information viewing. The invention further provides a CNC broken cutter prediction method based on the improved particle swarm optimization BP neural network. The system has the advantages that three technologies of the sensor, the wireless communication network and big data are fused; data collected by the sensors are transmitted through the wireless communication network, data analysis and prediction are completed through the big data analysis platform, dependence on industrial field detection instruments and equipment is avoided, the production cost is greatly reduced, and meanwhile the cutter breakage prediction precision is improved through an intelligent algorithm.
