In one step (S1) of the method, data is received from at least one IoT device (21) by means of an operator platform (10). In another step (S2), the received data is analyzed by the operator platform (10), wherein the analysis of the received data has at least the process of determining whether the received data comprises an indication of a malfunction of the IOT device (21) or an unauthorized access of the IoT device (21). In another step (S3), state data of the IoT device (21) is generated on the basis of the analysis, and the state data represents a current or imminent state of the IoT device (21). In another step (S4), the IoT device (21) is controlled on the basis of the generated state data of the IoT device (21).
