The invention discloses an IoT (Internet of Things) edge device authentication method and system, and the method comprises the steps that when an IoT edge device is a first certification party device, a remote device selects a first random numerical value, and sends the first random numerical value and a remote device id to a local identity authentication proxy device together; the local identity authentication proxy device forwards the first random numerical value and the remote device id to the IoT edge device, so that the IoT edge device calculates a first MAC value according to the first random numerical value; the local identity authentication proxy device receives a first MAC value sent by the IoT edge device, performs a first digital signature on the first random value after the first MAC value is successfully verified, and sends the first digital signature to a remote device, and the remote device verifies whether the first digital signature is correct or not and sends the first digital signature to the IoT edge device. And judging whether the IoT edge device passes the authentication or not. According to the invention, the computing burden and the power consumption of the IoT edge equipment are reduced while the equipment authentication is realized.
