Information associated with a network communication of the IoT device is received. A determination is made whether the IoT device has been classified. In response to determining that the IoT device has not been classified, a two-part classification process is performed, where a first part includes online classification and a second part includes subsequent verification of the online classification. A result of the classification process is provided to a secure apparatus configured to apply the policy to the IoT device.
